Computer generated holography

The hologram is a familiar artifact of late 20th century, and research produced displays holographic devices are able to create a light field identical to that which would be emitted by the original scene, with both horizontal and vertical parallax over a wide range of visual angles. Too bad that 3D was later invented, but for now we only need a vhs to dvd converter. The effect is similar to that of sight through a window at the scene is reproduced, and water it could make the most convincing of 3D display technologies, but as now the large number of calculations needed to generate a hologram prevented detailed application was largely outside the laboratory. Some companies still produce commercial equipment to generate holographic images.
